Easy French Toast

This french toast recipe is so quick and easy you'll never reach for another recipe again! You're only one bowl, one pan, and 20 minutes away from a hot, delicious breakfast!

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon salted butter melted
  • 1 cup milk room temperature
  • 8 slices sturdy white sandwich bread

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and adjust one oven rack to lowest position and one about 5-6 inches from the broiler. 
  • Generously spray the bottom of a 18 x 13 inch rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl whisk together eggs, vanilla, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon until smooth and no streaks of egg remain. 
  • Whisk milk and butter into the eggs to make the custard mixture. 
  • Pour custard mixture into prepared baking sheet. Lay slices of bread in a single layer in the egg mixture. Wait for 1 minute and flip each slice so that both slides of the bread are coated in custard.
  • Wait an additional minute for the remaining custard mixture to be absorbed and place in the oven on the lower rack. 
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the bottoms of the slices are golden brown. Transfer baking sheet to the top rack under the broiler, turn on the broiler, and broil until the tops are golden brown, watching carefully! 
  • Remove from the oven and serve with maple syrup, butter, and powdered sugar

Notes

For Perfect French Toast Do These Things:
  • Mix the custard in stages for the smoothest consistency.
  • Choose a sturdy sandwich bread like Country White or Potato
  • Grease your cookie sheet WELL.
  • Bake first and then Broil for well-browned bottoms and crispy tops.
