Homemade ButterScotch Caramel Sauce

Sweet, salty and perfect for your favorite ice cream!


  • 1/4 cup salted butter
  • 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp table salt


1. Melt butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar, cream, and salt and whisk until blended. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2.Remove from the heat and add vanilla extract, stirring well. Allow to cool. Sauce will thicken as it cools.
