This Teriyaki Beef stir fry recipe is super quick and takes just a handful of ingredients, making it a perfect weeknight meal! It’s loaded with fresh (or frozen broccoli), tender beef strips, and is drenched in a sweet and savory sauce.
This teriyaki beef and broccoli stir fry recipe is one that my family can’t get enough of. Well, at least most of us are fans. My seven year old would be in heaven if I let her exclusively eat cheese, tortillas, watermelon, and bread for the rest of her life. When she was little I would try the, “you’re a big hungry giant, let’s eat some little tiny trees!” bit to get her to try broccoli and she would just look at me like I was an idiot and ask for more applesauce. She hasn’t changed much. Although now, I can at least get her to eat this Sweet Chili Chicken Lo Mein and Baked Orange Chiken so there still might be hope.

How to Make a Teriyaki Beef Stir Fry
Step 1.) To make life super simple, you’ll start out with a package of pre-cut beef strips labeled “beef for stir-fry” which is usually pretty easy to find in your grocer’s meat aisle. If you can’t find something similar, top sirloin cut across the grain is a good choice for this recipe.
Step 2.) You’ll make the sauce with soy sauce, sugar, mirin, garlic, red pepper flakes, and corn starch. Give it a stir in a bowl and set it aside.
Step 3.) You’ll want to lightly cook your fresh broccoli before throwing it into the stir-fry pan so that you don’t end up with raw broccoli and/or over-cooked and chewy meat. A saute pan with a lid and a little bit of water in the pan does the trick to steam the florets until just tender and bright green. If you are using frozen broccoli, throw it into the microwave for a few minutes to get the chill off and drain the excess water.
Step 4.) In a wok or large saute pan, heat a tablespoon of oil and quickly brown the meat, stirring often, working in batches if needed– about 3-4 minutes each batch. Remove the meat from the pan and set aside. Add the sauce to the hot pan, bring to a simmer and stir in the cooked meat and broccoli.
Step 5.) Give the pan a stir to make sure the beef and broccoli are well coated with the sauce and serve your Teriyaki Beef Stir Fry over hot steamed rice.
Tools I Recommend for Making Teriyaki Beef Stir Fry
Large Skillet or Wok: I love my Anolon pans and have used them for years. The non-stick surface is metal utensil safe and durable!
Silicone Tipped Stainless Steel Tongs: I like to use long-handled tongs when making stir frys because they allow me to move the food quickly remove food from the pan easily when needed.

I made this for my husband and I tonight. It was delicious. I will definitely be making it more often though I will be cutting back on the sugar.

I made this tonight and it was awesome! What are the brown bits that pop up when you heat the sauce?
John says
They are probably the cooked minced garlic.
